bandaged up horrid feet

my feet mowgli style

One foot in front of the other

One breath at a time.

Your body hurts from the inside out. No matter how much you try and block out the pain, your mind won’t wander quite far enough away. Feeling the pain welling up deep inside your muscles, the oxygen escaping your lungs, you got to dig deep into your psyche – urging, willing, trying to convince yourself to go on.

It’s easier to stop, you keep reminding yourself. This very fact keeps you going, one step at a time until the end is closer than the stride before, and the stride before that. On & on. One more corner. One more lap. One last stretch.

By now running is all you are thinking about: whether it’s a new exercise regime, a weight loss strategy, a charity fundraiser – your running – no matter the speed – has a purpose, a purpose you must adhere too, keeping you plodding on. Through wind, rain & sunshine, there is no climate too tough, no hill too high, no morning too early, and get there you will. Perhaps not in style; but in substance (of the purest form).

Running is the simplest form of exercise and the quickest to improve in. From utilising a  simple pair of trainers or even going barefeet – the options are both endless & minimalistic. From the post run adrenalin to the exhilarated fuelled rewards of going quicker, faster & longer. Leaving the shadow of your previous successes in your wake.

If running was easy, everyone would be doing it. Whether it’s with a club, your friends or on your own – it’s you Vs you. Mano o Mano. The world isn’t your limit – your potential is. Not many people live up to their own potential, will you?

Born to walk, live to run.
